INTRODUCTION TO CRAPS

Craps is mostly a game of luck as many casino games are. The game needs at least 2 players to play but can be played with as many as 6 players. The game tends to be more fun if more people are playing at the same time.

HOW TO PLAY CRAPS

There is always a player that will be throwing the dice, this player is called the shooter. Players need to make a bet and the shooter will then throw the dice. The first bet is called the ‘come out roll’ and the players will make ‘pass line’ bets. Pass line bets will all win if the ‘come out roll’ is 7 or 11, and they will lose their bets if the roll is 2, 3, or 12 (this is called craps). If any other number is rolled it becomes the ‘point’. The shooter must continue to roll the dice until either the ‘point’ or a 7 is thrown. If the ‘point’ comes up before a 7, all the ‘pass line’ bets win. If a 7 comes up first then all the ‘pass line’ bets lose.

There are so many bets that can be made in craps. These become easier to understand as a player learns the game.

Here are most of basic bets so that you get the general idea.

- Pass Line Bet- paid 1 to 1

- Don’t Pass Line – the opposite of the above. These bets win if the ‘come out roll’ is 2 or 3, or push if a 12 is rolled. You are basically betting that they shooter wont be a good shooter.

- Come Bets – almost the same as Pass Line bets except they are only made after the ‘come out roll’. As with the Pass Line bet, the player wins if the next roll is 7 or 11 and loses if the roll is 2, 3, or 12. Any other number becomes the ‘come point’ and the bet will win if the shooter rolls the ‘come point’ before a 7 and lose if the opposite happens. These bets cannot be changed or removed, and the payoff is 1 to 1.

- Don’t Come Bets – the opposite of the above and almost the same as Don’t Pass Line, but with the bets being placed after the first come out roll. The payoff is again 1 to 1.

CRAPS STRATEGY

- You should aim to know which numbers have a probability of coming. For example, eleven or seven have many more possible combinations from two dice than twelve or two.

- Find a way that you like to play and stick to this way from then onwards.

- If the plan is to play for a long time duration than play the ’pass’/’don’t pass’ and ‘come’/’don’t come’ bets.

- Increase your betting pattern as you are winning and decrease as you are losing.

- Watch the table before you play and copy the player with the most winnings but in a smaller betting amounts

- This game is a little more complicated than others but can be very fun once you get the hang of it!
